Dual-Role Mobile Vehicle Technician / Technical Service Controller
Salary: £38,000 per annum
This is a Monday to Friday position with NO WEEKENDS.
The Company
They are an established independent company based in Kingswood, Bristol specialising in mobile servicing and repairs on light commercial vehicles for the fleet industry across Bristol and surrounding areas. They are looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician / Mechanic who is reliable, conscientious and takes pride in delivering work to the highest standard, and who is comfortable working in an office-based capacity supporting the day-to-day running of the service operation in a dual-role position.
You will primarily be office-based, providing day-to-day administrative support to our small service team and mobile vehicle technicians. You will also spend time on the road carrying out servicing and repairs at customer sites, allowing you to remain hands-on while providing additional technician support during busy periods and holiday cover. As an experienced technician, you will also assist with the training of new technicians by delivering on-the-job training, sharing your knowledge and expertise, and helping them develop the technical skills and confidence needed to work independently and in line with our standards.

Responsibilities
- Act as a key link between customers, the service team and mobile technicians, ensuring all work in progress is effectively monitored and communicated.
- Advise customers on required repairs, routine maintenance and recommended service schedules.
- Provide customer updates, obtain authorisation for additional work and resolve queries to deliver an excellent customer experience.
- Source and order parts while liaising with suppliers to secure the best pricing and availability.
- Provide technical guidance and support to mobile technicians and the service team, acting as the primary point of contact for technical queries.
- Travel to customer sites to carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on cars and light commercial vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair vehicle faults using diagnostic equipment.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high professional industry standard.
- Work in a safe, clean and responsible manner.
- Lead, train, develop and assist mobile technicians where required.
- Conduct onsite quality inspections to ensure company standards are maintained.
- Assist with improving procedures and systems by making recommendations for continuous improvement.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent)
- Experience in carrying out diagnostic repairs and fault finding
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Flexible and adaptable approach
- Excellent communication, administrative and customer service skills
- Full UK driving license
- For insurance purposes, applicants must be aged 24 or over.
