Motor Claims Handler – Third Party & Credit Hire
Red Dot Search UK Limited
Motor Claims Handler – Third Party & Credit Hire | Bolton | £24,479 – £28,000
35 hours, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm. No evenings. No weekends. Free parking on site. Fully funded CII.
We are recruiting a Motor Claims Handler in Bolton for a well-established, FCA-regulated general insurance business, working third party property damage and credit hire claims. It is an on-site role at BL7, a short drive from Bolton, Bury, Horwich, Westhoughton, Chorley, Blackburn and Darwen.
This one is for someone who already has a foot in claims — motor, FNOL, personal injury, accident management, anything where you have handled a caseload and had to work out who was at fault — and wants to move into third party and credit hire properly, with the training paid for.
What the job involves
- Handling third party vehicle and property damage claims from notification through to resolution
- Investigating liability — gathering the evidence, working out who was at fault, and being able to say why
- Working credit hire claims: validating the claim, checking the hire period and the rates, and challenging them where they do not stack up
- Speaking to policyholders, solicitors, insurers and accident management companies
- Spotting anything that does not look right and escalating it
- Keeping your own caseload moving to service standards
You will not be thrown in. There is a dedicated in-house motor claims trainer and one-to-one coaching.
What you will need
- Some claims experience — motor, FNOL, personal injury, RTA, credit hire or accident management
- If you are a personal injury or RTA handler, read this properly. You already argue liability, negotiate with the other side, work to a portal and a timetable and deal with solicitors every day. That is this job, pointed at vehicle damage instead of injury. It retrains in weeks.
- Confident on the phone and in writing, and comfortable holding a position when someone pushes back
- Good attention to detail across multiple systems
- GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or above in English and Maths
- Willing to work towards the CII Certificate — fully funded
What you get
- £24,479 – £28,000 depending on experience
- 35-hour week, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm. Nothing unsocial. Flexible start and finish, and hybrid available after probation
- Fully funded CII qualifications and one-to-one coaching from a dedicated motor claims trainer
- 29 days' holiday including bank holidays, rising to 36 with length of service — plus your birthday off and a half-day for seasonal shopping
- Holiday buy and sell scheme, and an early finish on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve
- Company-paid health cash plan — dental, optical, therapies, 24/7 GP access and counselling
- Contributory pension, £1,000 refer-a-friend bonus, and a cash bonus for going above and beyond
- Free on-site parking, casual dress, free branded clothing, cycle to work scheme
- Sports and social club, and trained mental health first aiders on site
- A Living Wage and Living Hours employer, and Disability Confident Committed
Being straight with you
This is five days a week on site to start with — hybrid comes after you have passed probation, and it is not a day-one thing. You will need to drive; the site is on the edge of Egerton and the bus will not cut it. And credit hire is a genuine learning curve: there is law in it and there is argument in it, and it takes a few months before it is comfortable.
If you are currently driving into Manchester and paying to park, do the sum on this one. Free parking and a 9–5 with no weekends is worth real money.
How to apply
