Our client, a well-established international logistics provider, is looking to recruit an experienced Multi-Modal Freight Operator to join their growing Cardiff operation.

Must have good knowledge of UK freigh forwarding

This is an excellent opportunity for a freight forwarding professional with experience across air, ocean and road freight to join a dynamic business that offers long-term career progression within a fast-paced international environment.

About the Role

You will be responsible for coordinating and managing freight movements across multiple transport modes, ensuring shipments are delivered efficiently while maintaining excellent levels of customer service.

Working as part of an established team of 12 employees, including 8 freight specialists and 4 warehouse staff, you will play a key role in supporting customers and overseeing shipments from origin through to final delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate air, ocean and road freight shipments.
• Arrange bookings with carriers and transport providers.
• Monitor shipments and resolve any operational issues.
• Prepare shipping and customs documentation.
• Maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
• Support cross-trade freight movements and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

About the Business

The operation handles a wide variety of international freight movements, with key trade lanes including China and the USA, alongside an expanding cross-trade portfolio.

Customers operate across a range of sectors, including Aviation, Retail and Pharmaceutical.

Requirements

Essential:

• Previous experience within freight forwarding or logistics operations.
• Knowledge of air, ocean or road freight procedures.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Excellent attention to detail.

Desirable:

• Multi-modal freight forwarding experience.
• Customs and compliance knowledge.
• Experience using CargoWise or a similar freight forwarding system.

• Excellent negotiation skills with carriers, vendors, and clients to secure favorable terms
• Familiarity with CRM software for lead generation and customer relationship management
• Knowledge of B2B sales strategies within the logistics or transportation industry
• Ability to perform accurate data entry and maintain comprehensive shipment records
• Understanding of FDA regulations related to shipping regulated products or materials (nice-to-have)
• Experience working with third-party logistics providers (3PL) is preferred
