Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer
Location: Leicester
Shift: 4 on / 4 off rotational (Days & Nights) - including weekends and bank holidays
Salary: £55,000 including paid overtime and a range of exceptional employee benefits
This hands‑on role focuses on electrical, controls, and automation maintenance, supported by strong mechanical capability. You’ll deliver safe, efficient repairs, rapid breakdown response, and high‑quality planned maintenance to keep our equipment running and plant operating reliably. Working in a fast paced, automated manufacturing facility requires previous, relevant experience, able to evidence a robust understanding and appreciation of multi-skilled maintenance engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on corrugating, converting, and finishing equipment.
- Diagnose faults using PLC/HMI tools, I/O checks, instrumentation, and electrical test equipment.
- Repair electrical systems including motors, sensors, drives, safety circuits, and control panels.
- Complete mechanical tasks such as bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, and alignment.
- Support control system upgrades, commissioning, and documentation updates.
- Conduct RCA and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime.
- Maintain accurate CMMS records and follow all LOTO and electrical safety procedures.
- Work collaboratively with Production and supervise contractors when required
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- 3-5 years previous, relevant employment experience
- Strong electrical fault‑finding and diagnostics in a manufacturing environment.
- PLC/HMI diagnostics (Siemens/Allen Bradley).
- Instrumentation and sensor knowledge.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and use test equipment.
- Competent mechanical maintenance skills.
- Safe working practices: LOTO, PTW, isolations.
Desirable:
- Hydraulics/pneumatics, fabrication, mechanical overhauls.
- Experience with CI tools (TPM, 5S, RCA).
- Mentoring apprentices or junior engineers.
Health & Safety
- Full compliance with PUWER, LOLER, COSHH, and site safety standards.
- Commitment to a safety‑first culture and correct use of PPE.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or equivalent.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (or willingness to achieve).
