My client is looking for a Multi-Skilled Engineering Technician to join their engineering team in Bridgwater. They welcome applicants from mechanical, electrical or craft backgrounds, as well as those who are already multi-skilled. Whether your experience comes from manufacturing, the armed forces, automotive, FMCG or another engineering environment, they value your expertise and transferable skills.
 
The role:
  • Complete planned and reactive maintenance activities to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
  • Diagnose faults and test, repair and maintain a range of mechanical, electrical and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Support fault-finding activities across control and automation systems.
  • Carry out preventative, condition-based and corrective maintenance tasks.
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics and maintenance documentation to support effective fault diagnosis.
  • Use the site's maintenance management system to prioritise tasks, record work completed and identify recurring issues.
  • Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to ensure equipment is returned to service safely and efficiently.
  • Lead and support root cause investigations to identify permanent corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, performance and operational efficiency.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and engineering projects across the site.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, safety and engineering compliance.
  • Liaise with OEMs and external suppliers where technical support is required.
The Person:
  • Time-served or recognised engineering apprenticeship.
  • Maintenance engineering experience within manufacturing, industrial, automotive, military or similar engineering environments.
  • Mechanical, Electrical or Multi-Skilled background with strong fault-finding capability.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.
  • Comfortable working within a fast-paced production environment.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications (ONC, HNC or equivalent experience).
Desirable
  • HNC qualification in an engineering discipline.
  • IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification.
  • Experience with automation and control systems.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and techniques.
  • Experience supporting reliability improvement or root cause analysis activities.
