Braintree Precision Components is a specialist precision components manufacturer based in Braintree, Essex. The site produces bespoke components across a range of complex production processes, with Fanuc and Siemens-controlled machinery at the heart of operations. It's a busy, skilled environment where maintenance quality directly affects output.

The role

You'll join a maintenance team of three as the electrically biased engineer, reporting to the Maintenance Manager. Your focus will be keeping production running through a combination of planned preventative maintenance and rapid fault resolution. The kind of work where sharp electrical thinking makes a real difference.

You'll:

  • Diagnose and repair electrical faults on control panels, PLCs, and inverter drives
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance across production and site equipment
  • Support mechanical maintenance activities including bearings, belts, gearboxes, and pneumatics
  • Fault find on automation systems including Siemens and Fanuc PLCs
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise production downtime
  • Complete electrical installation, modification, and improvement projects
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and contribute to root cause analysis

What you'll bring

Essential:

  • Proven experience as an electrically qualified maintenance engineer in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • HNC in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent: NVQ Level 3 with distinction and substantial industrial experience considered)
  • Solid working knowledge of 3-phase systems, motors, drives, sensors, and control systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics
  • Working knowledge of health and safety standards including safe isolation and risk assessments

Useful, not essential:

  • PLC fault-finding experience (Siemens or Fanuc)
  • Mechanical maintenance experience alongside electrical skills
  • Experience with inverter drives and variable speed drives
  • 18thEdition Wiring regs Qualification a distinct advantage
