The Opportunity

A leading manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Test & Commissioning Engineer to support the commissioning and start-up of a newly constructed production facility in East Yorkshire.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a major capital project involving advanced process equipment and automation systems. The successful candidate will join a skilled engineering team responsible for the testing, commissioning, and early operational support of complex electro-mechanical equipment within a modern manufacturing environment.

The role would suit an engineer with strong fault-finding skills, commissioning experience, and a hands-on approach to solving technical challenges.



Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, responsibilities will include:

  • Setting up, configuring, testing and commissioning electro-mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Carrying out electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic testing activities.
  • Completing insulation resistance (IR) testing, loop testing and earth bonding verification.
  • Using a variety of test equipment including multi-meters and other diagnostic tools.
  • Diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Supporting installation, commissioning and maintenance activities as required.
  • Ensuring all test procedures, documentation and commissioning records are completed accurately and to a high standard.
  • Working collaboratively with engineering and project teams to ensure successful project delivery.


Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience within a testing, commissioning or electro-mechanical engineering environment.
  • Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience using a range of electrical and mechanical testing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics and P&IDs.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety and quality standards.
  • Good understanding of low-voltage (LV) electrical systems.


Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, Maintenance or a related Engineering discipline.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing.
  • HNC/HND in Engineering.
  • Site Safety Passport or equivalent.
  • Previous commissioning experience within manufacturing, automation, process, chemical or industrial environments.
