Job Role & Key Responsibilities:

We are recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical Bias) to join a busy manufacturing site operating on a fixed 4-on, 4-off shift pattern. You'll be responsible for ensuring production equipment operates safely and efficiently through planned preventative maintenance, rapid breakdown response, and continuous improvement initiatives.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across production machinery and site services.

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults to minimise downtime.

  • Complete welding and fabrication work as required.

  • Perform first-line fault finding on electrical issues where appropriate.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using a CMMS.

  • Complete maintenance documentation, handover reports and work orders.

  • Identify opportunities to improve plant reliability, efficiency and reduce costs.

  • Ensure all work is completed in line with Health & Safety, Food Safety and quality standards.

  • Maintain high housekeeping standards within engineering workshops and production areas.

  • Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to maximise equipment performance.



The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Experience in a mechanical maintenance engineering role within manufacturing, FMCG, food production or a similar industrial environment.

  • Strong fault-finding and repair skills on production machinery.

  • Welding and fabrication experience.

  • Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance.

  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

  • Commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards.



Desirable Skills:

  • Engineering apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).

  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyor systems or packaging machinery.

  • Basic electrical fault-finding experience.

  • Experience using a CMMS.

  • Previous experience within food manufacturing or other high-volume production environments.
