Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer to join a well-established facilities management organisation supporting a portfolio of commercial buildings across Ipswich town centre.
This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll be responsible for delivering both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across electrical, mechanical, plumbing and general building services.
This position would suit an engineer with either an electrical or mechanical background who enjoys problem-solving and takes pride in maintaining high standards across commercial facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in line with statutory requirements and industry standards.
- Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests and resolve faults efficiently.
- Undertake general building maintenance, including basic plumbing and fabric repairs.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete relevant documentation.
- Support health & safety compliance across all sites.
- Participate in on-call and emergency response duties where required.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, manuals and maintenance documentation.
- Monitor and inspect work completed by external contractors.
- Replace and maintain components including filters, belts and valves.
- Ensure adequate stock levels of essential maintenance materials.
- Work closely with the Facilities Manager to ensure buildings remain safe, compliant and fully operational.
Requirements
To be considered, you should have:
- Experience within Facilities Management or Building Maintenance.
- Experience carrying out both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance.
- An electrical or mechanical qualification (such as Level 2/3 Electrical, Mechanical or equivalent).
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (electrical candidates) or a relevant mechanical/plumbing qualification.
- Good understanding of health & safety regulations.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Basic IT skills, including Outlook and Excel.
Desirable
- Experience working within commercial buildings.
- Additional engineering or maintenance qualifications.
- Multi-skilled experience across electrical, mechanical and plumbing disciplines.
