Ballantine Recruitment is partnering with an established Food & Drink manufacturing business to recruit an electrically biased Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer for its high-speed production site in Warrington.
This is a hands-on engineering position supporting a highly automated manufacturing environment incorporating bottling, canning and process equipment.
You’ll join an established engineering team responsible for keeping production running safely and efficiently, combining reactive fault finding with planned maintenance, reliability improvement and engineering projects.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for:
- Electrical and mechanical breakdown maintenance across automated production equipment
- PLC, controls and automation fault finding
- Planned preventative maintenance and scheduled engineering work
- Diagnosing recurring equipment issues and supporting root-cause analysis
- Improving equipment reliability and reducing unplanned downtime
- Supporting bottling, canning and process machinery
- Equipment installations, modifications and engineering improvement projects
- Working closely with production and operational teams
- Supporting specialist contractors and external engineers when required
- Recording maintenance activity and work orders through the site CMMS
- Contributing to continuous improvement, OEE, TPM, Lean and reliability initiatives
- Maintaining high engineering, safety and housekeeping standards
What We’re Looking For
We’re particularly interested in engineers who are:
- Time-served or apprenticeship-trained within Engineering
- Electrically biased with strong mechanical capability
- Experienced within Food & Drink, FMCG, packaging or another high-speed manufacturing environment
- Confident fault finding on electrical control systems, PLCs and automated equipment
- Strong mechanically with the ability to diagnose and repair production machinery
- Comfortable working independently and making decisions during breakdown situations
- Experienced with PPM, reliability and continuous improvement
- Practical, hands-on and motivated by improving equipment performance
Formal qualifications such as HNC, NVQ Level 4 or equivalent would be advantageous but are not essential where strong practical experience can be demonstrated.
Shift & Package
Salary: £53,351 including shift allowance
Shift: 2 Days, 2 Nights, 4 Off
Working arrangement: Annualised hours
Annual leave is incorporated into planned periods within the annualised-hours shift pattern. Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day are not rostered working days.
