The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with an Electrical Bias to join our engineering team, supporting bakery production sites across the North West of England.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on, proactive engineer who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is confident fault-finding across both electrical and mechanical systems.
You will play a key role in keeping production running efficiently, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance while helping to improve equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on bakery production and packaging equipment.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults involving motors, sensors, drives, control panels, relays and automation systems.
- Provide mechanical maintenance and breakdown support when required.
- Fault-find using electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
- Maintain and repair equipment including conveyors, mixers, ovens, provers, slicers and packaging machinery.
- Carry out effective fault diagnosis to minimise production downtime.
- Support continuous improvement projects focused on equipment reliability and reducing recurring breakdowns.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and report recurring equipment issues.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with site health & safety and food safety procedures.
- Travel between bakery sites across the North West when required.
Skills & Experience
- Electrical Engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer.
- Strong electrical fault-finding skills.
- Experience with motors, inverters/VSDs, sensors, relays, contactors and control systems.
- Basic PLC fault-finding experience is advantageous.
- Good mechanical maintenance and fault-finding ability.
- Experience working with production and packaging machinery.
- Food manufacturing, bakery or FMCG experience is desirable but not essential.
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and schematics.
- A practical, proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently across multiple sites.
- Full flexibility to travel across the North West.
