Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer
Location: Birmingham
Shift Pattern: Continental Shifts
Salary £40-45k (depending on experience)

Elevation Recruitment Group is working in partnership with a well-established manufacturing business in Birmingham to recruit an experienced Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their maintenance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer to play a key role in maintaining production equipment, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement activities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative, corrective, and reactive maintenance across plant equipment and site facilities.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical and electro-mechanical machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and perform effective repairs to minimise downtime.
  • Operate and develop preventative maintenance schedules and systems.
  • Program, fault-find, and interrogate Siemens and other PLC systems.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and provide technical support to production teams.
  • Read, interpret, and update electrical drawings and documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • A recognised apprenticeship and relevant technical qualifications (NVQ, ONC, HNC, or equivalent).
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience working with PLCs, including fault-finding and interrogation.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems.
  • Previous experience carrying out preventative maintenance activities.
  • Experience of condition monitoring techniques.
  • The ability to read, interpret, and amend electrical schematics and drawings.
  • Understanding of variable speed drives, including setup and configuration.
  • Good knowledge of IEE Wiring Regulations.
  • Experience with vacuum technology, forges, and presses.
  • Previous experience within a medium to heavy engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • A strong understanding of safe working practices, including Permit to Work (PTW) systems and risk assessments.
