Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Nottingham

Panama Shift Pattern

£51,000 to £55,500 depending on experience

Are you a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer looking for a secure, long-term opportunity with one of the UK’s best-known food manufacturers?

We’re recruiting for an experienced engineer to join the team at a busy, high-volume manufacturing site in Nottingham.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll be responsible for keeping production running efficiently – carrying out planned maintenance, responding to breakdowns and using your fault-finding skills to get equipment back up and running quickly.

If you enjoy solving problems, working with automated production equipment and being part of an experienced engineering team, this could be an excellent next move.

The Role

Working as part of the site engineering team, you’ll take responsibility for both planned and reactive maintenance across a wide range of production and plant equipment. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
  • Responding quickly to machinery breakdowns and production issues
  • Fault finding across electrical, mechanical and control systems
  • Diagnosing equipment problems and implementing effective repairs
  • Working with PLC-controlled process equipment
  • Identifying potential equipment failures before they impact production
  • Recording maintenance activity accurately using the site's CMMS
  • Identifying critical spares and helping improve equipment reliability
  • Supporting production teams to minimise downtime, waste and disruption
  • Contributing ideas and technical knowledge to improve site performance
  • The emphasis is very much on effective fault finding and keeping a busy manufacturing operation running safely and efficiently.

Ideally, you’ll be an experienced multi-skilled engineer who is comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Around 3–5 years' maintenance experience within manufacturing
  • A recognised Engineering Apprenticeship
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience working with PLC/process equipment and plant
  • Good fault-finding ability
  • Experience using CMMS systems
  • A good understanding of safe working practices, including Permit to Work systems
  • Experience within food, FMCG, packaging, automated manufacturing or another high-volume production environment would be particularly relevant.
  • HNC qualifications, IOSH, IPAF and PLC programming experience would also be advantageous, although these are listed as desirable rather than essential.

This is an opportunity to join a well-established UK manufacturer where engineering plays a vital role in the performance of the site.

You’ll be joining a role with plenty of variety and responsibility rather than simply carrying out routine maintenance. You’ll be involved in breakdown response, preventative maintenance, equipment reliability and continuous improvement, with the opportunity to share your knowledge and develop your technical capability.
