Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer
MorePeople
£50,000-£56,000 + excellent benefits | 4 on / 4 off | 1 in 4 night rotation
If you're a hands-on Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer who enjoys fault finding, fixing machinery properly and getting involved in engineering improvements, this could be a very good move.
This isn't a role where you're expected to simply reset a machine, change a sensor and wait for the next breakdown.
You'll have access to a fully equipped engineering workshop, including fabrication facilities, welding bays, a lathe and milling equipment, giving you the opportunity to build, modify and improve equipment as well as maintain it.
You'll work across a highly automated production and packaging environment, carrying out both electrical and mechanical maintenance while getting involved in reliability, improvement and installation projects.
The Shift Pattern
4 on / 4 off with a 1 in 4 night shift rotation
A structured shift pattern designed to give you a strong amount of time away from site while still providing excellent earning potential.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll be responsible for keeping a busy automated production operation running safely and efficiently.
Your day-to-day work will include:
Electrical and mechanical fault finding
Planned preventative maintenance
Diagnosing and repairing breakdowns
Maintaining automated production and packaging machinery
Supporting installation and commissioning of new equipment
Carrying out engineering modifications and improvements
Fabrication and welding work
Using workshop machinery including lathes and milling equipment
Identifying recurring faults and helping improve equipment reliability
Working closely with production teams to minimise downtime
Supporting continuous improvement and reliability projects
The Equipment
You'll work on a wide range of automated food processing and packaging equipment, including:
Optical sorters
ProSeal machinery
Redpack machinery
Multi-head weighers
Flow wrappers
Conveyors
Automated packaging systems
Fresh produce processing and packing equipment
There's plenty of variety, so this is well suited to an engineer who enjoys getting stuck into different types of machinery rather than doing the same repair every shift.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an engineer with a strong electrical and mechanical maintenance background.
You'll ideally have experience with:
Industrial electrical fault finding
Mechanical maintenance and repair
Automated machinery
Production, manufacturing or packaging equipment
Planned and reactive maintenance
Continuous improvement and problem solving
Experience within FMCG, food manufacturing, fresh produce, packaging or automated production would be advantageous.
An engineering apprenticeship, NVQ, HNC or equivalent is preferred, although practical engineering ability and relevant experience are equally important.
Experience with welding, fabrication, machining, lathe or milling work would be a real bonus.
What's In It For You?
£50,000-£56,000 salary
4 on / 4 off shift pattern
1 in 4 night shift rotation
Market-leading pension scheme
Generous holiday entitlement
Life assurance
Healthcare cash plan
Aviva Digital GP
Employee assistance programme
Flexible benefits platform
Colleague discount scheme
Retail, leisure and lifestyle discounts
Family-friendly policies and enhanced leave
Salary finance options
Recognition and reward schemes
Ongoing training and development
Why This Role?
If you're looking for a maintenance role where you can actually engineer, rather than simply react to breakdowns, this is worth a look.
You'll have the equipment, workshop facilities and scope to use your skills across electrical, mechanical, fabrication and continuous improvement work.
It's a good opportunity for an engineer who wants variety, decent time off and the chance to develop beyond traditional reactive maintenance.
