We have a fantastic opportunity for a skilled and motivated Multi-Skilled Engineer with a balanced 50/50 electrical and mechanical background to join our engineering team at our fast-paced Food FMCG manufacturing site.

Working a permanent 4 on, 4 off shift pattern (11:00am–11:00pm), you will play a key role in ensuring maximum equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement across production operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production and packaging equipment.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to machinery breakdowns, diagnosing both electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Perform repairs on conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, pneumatics, hydraulics, sensors, drives, and control systems.
  • Fault find on PLC-controlled equipment and assist with electrical diagnostics.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and production efficiency.
  • Complete maintenance records accurately using the site's CMMS system.
  • Work closely with Production, Hygiene, and Quality teams to minimise downtime.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards.
  • Assist with machinery installations, upgrades, and engineering projects when required.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Time-served engineering apprenticeship or recognised engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC, or equivalent).
  • Multi-skilled engineer with approximately 50% electrical and 50% mechanical experience.
  • Previous experience within a Food, FMCG, or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with PLC-controlled machinery.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, motors, conveyors, bearings, and mechanical power transmission.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety and food manufacturing standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Food hygiene awareness.
  • Continuous improvement experience (Lean, TPM, Six Sigma).
  • CMMS experience.
