The Role
 

We are seeking a highly driven and technically astute National Sales Manager to lead our business development efforts across the entire UK. In this pivotal role, you will be the face of  the Company responsible for generating new business, managing key accounts, and driving revenue growth by selling our bespoke water treatment engineered solutions.

You will work directly with UK Water Companies (Utilities) and Tier 1/ Tier 2 Contractors/Suppliers, positioning the company as their preferred partner for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

Please note: This is a highly specialised role. Proven, demonstrable experience within the UK water treatment/engineering sector is an absolute mandatory requirement.

Key Responsibilities

  • National Business Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive UK-wide sales strategy to identify, target, and secure new business opportunities within the water and wastewater sector.
     
  • Client Engagement: Build, maintain, and leverage strong relationships with key decision-makers, framework managers, and procurement leads at UK Water Companies (e.g., Thames Water, Severn Trent, Yorkshire Water, Anglian, United Utilities, etc.) and Tier 1/Tier 2 contractors/suppliers.
     
  • Framework Optimisation: Actively target and secure work within current AMP8 framework agreements, ensuring the Company maximises its share of work within the industry.
     
  • Full Sales Cycle Management: Manage the end-to-end sales process, from initial lead generation and site surveys through to technical presentations, proposal delivery, and final contract negotiation.

     
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with our internal estimating, design, and project management teams to ensure client requirements are accurately translated into competitive and technically sound bids and tenders.
     
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and upcoming infrastructure projects to keep the company at the forefront of the market.
     
  • Representation: Represent the company at key industry exhibitions, networking events, and technical seminars to raise the company brand profile.

Mandatory Requirements
 

  • Sector Experience: Must have a proven track record in technical sales, business development, or account management specifically within the UK water treatment or water engineering sector.
     
  • Industry Network: An existing, active network of contacts within UK Water Utilities and Tier 1 construction/engineering contractors.
     
  • Technical Acumen: A solid understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes, pumping stations, and associated engineered equipment. Ability to hold your own in technical discussions with engineers and project managers.
     
  • Sales Expertise: Demonstrable experience selling complex, engineered solutions (rather than off-the-shelf commodities or purely chemical treatments).
     
  • Mobility: A full, clean UK driving licence and a willingness to travel extensively across the whole of the UK, including overnight stays when required.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  

  • Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Business, or a related technical discipline.
     
  • Direct experience working with or selling into AMP8 (2025–2030) framework agreements.
     
  • Familiarity with standard forms of contract (e.g., NEC, JCT) and the tendering process for major infrastructure projects.
     
  • Experience using CRM software for pipeline management and forecasting.
