The Opportunity
Westlakes Recruit is supporting a leading global nuclear organisation with the appointment of 2-3 NDT Level III specialists to provide remote technical support to a major US nuclear programme.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced NDE/NDT professionals with strong technical knowledge across inspection methods, international standards and nuclear codes to support complex engineering and quality activities.
The successful candidates will provide specialist Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) engineering support, reviewing technical documentation and ensuring inspection activities are aligned with the required codes, standards and project requirements.
The Role
Working remotely as an NDT Level III Specialist, you will provide expert technical input across NDE activities, including the review and assessment of inspection documentation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing NDE/NDT documentation, including:
- Test plans
- Procedures
- Work instructions
- Compliance certifications
- Non-conformance reports
- Providing specialist technical support across NDE inspection activities.
- Reviewing inspection methodologies and associated technical documentation.
- Supporting compliance with applicable US and/or Polish standards and codes.
- Providing technical expertise and guidance across relevant NDT disciplines.
- Supporting the resolution and assessment of technical and quality issues.
- Ensuring NDE activities are undertaken in accordance with applicable project, industry and regulatory requirements.
NDE Methods
Experience across one or more of the following NDE methods is required:
- UT - Ultrasonic Testing: Using high-frequency sound waves to identify internal flaws and measure material thickness.
- VT - Visual Testing: Examination using visual inspection and optical aids to identify surface defects.
- MT - Magnetic Particle Testing: Using magnetic fields and ferromagnetic particles to identify surface and near-surface defects in suitable materials.
- PT - Penetrant Testing: Using liquid penetrant to identify surface-breaking defects.
- RT - Radiographic Testing: Using X-rays or gamma radiation to examine internal features and defects.
- ET - Eddy Current Testing: Using electromagnetic fields to identify surface and near-surface flaws in conductive materials.
About You
We are looking for experienced NDT Level III professionals with strong technical and code knowledge and the ability to operate independently within a remote project environment.
You will ideally have:
- Valid ASNT Level III certification in the relevant NDT discipline(s).
- Significant experience within NDE/NDT engineering and inspection.
- Strong knowledge of applicable US and/or Polish standards and codes.
- Experience with ASME Section III, Section V and Section XI.
- Knowledge of AWS D1.1 and AWS D1.6.
- Strong understanding of ISO 9712.
- Experience reviewing NDE procedures, test plans, inspection documentation and technical records.
- Experience assessing non-conformances and supporting technical resolution.
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification would be advantageous.
- Previous employer-based NDE certification would also be considered.
- Experience within the nuclear, power generation, heavy engineering or other highly regulated sectors would be highly desirable.
