The Opportunity
Due to an expanding portfolio of major infrastructure and civil engineering projects, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced NEC4 Supervisor to join a client-side delivery team within a highly regulated environment. This long-term position offers the chance to oversee complex construction works from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance are achieved. Working alongside senior stakeholders, project managers and contractors, you will play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of large-scale infrastructure programmes while benefiting from strong career development opportunities, exposure to multidisciplinary engineering projects, and the opportunity to further develop your NEC4 expertise.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
  • Undertake the duties of the NEC4 Supervisor in accordance with the contract requirements and principles of mutual trust and cooperation.
  • Monitor, inspect and witness construction activities, tests and inspections to ensure compliance with the project scope, specifications and quality requirements.
  • Identify, notify and manage defects throughout construction and completion phases.
  • Review contractor quality documentation, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), quality plans and construction methodologies.
  • Maintain accurate site records, inspection reports, diaries and documentation to support project governance and commercial processes.
  • Provide assurance through site surveillance, inspections and witnessing activities.
  • Support effective contractor management and stakeholder engagement across the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Attend safety, environmental and project meetings while promoting best practice standards.
  • Support commissioning, site access coordination and integration with wider project delivery teams.
  • Assist with project optioneering, lessons learned capture and quality performance reporting.
  • Review contractor proposals and support preconstruction and planning activities.
  • Liaise with operational stakeholders and end users to facilitate efficient project delivery.
  • Support implementation of site control procedures, permits and regulated working processes.
  • Coordinate activities under controlled work systems and ensure compliance with approved procedures where required.

You will have the following qualifications & experience:
  • Extensive experience supervising construction activities on major civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC4 contracts, particularly the role and responsibilities of the Supervisor.
  • Experience overseeing works including groundworks, utilities, temporary works, concrete structures and steelwork.
  • Good understanding of CDM Regulations and construction health & safety legislation.
  • Experience working within complex or highly regulated environments.
  • Strong quality assurance, inspection and compliance management experience.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain detailed records and manage project documentation.
  • Proactive, collaborative approach with strong attention to detail.

It’s great if you also have the following
  • NEC4 Supervisor Accreditation.
  • Experience working in a nuclear environment.
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience within defence, oil & gas, utilities, rail or other regulated sectors.
  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS).
  • CITB CSCS Black Card.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls disciplines.
  • Experience of prefabrication and building construction projects.

The setting for the role
This is a site-based position working within a secure and highly regulated infrastructure environment. The role involves close collaboration with client, contractor and stakeholder teams, overseeing construction activities on live project sites. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary delivery team, ensuring safety, quality and compliance standards are maintained throughout all phases of project execution. Security clearance will be required for this role
