.NET Developer

Avanti Recruitment

A well-established global business is looking for two .NET Developers to join its growing software development team.

You’ll be joining a collaborative development squad working on a large, business-critical .NET platform that has been developed over many years. The role offers a genuine mix of new development, ongoing improvements and modernisation.

The business is continuing to invest in its development capability and is gradually moving parts of the platform onto newer .NET technologies, including Blazor.

The Role

You’ll be involved in:

  • Developing new features and functionality
  • Maintaining and improving an established .NET platform
  • Writing and maintaining SQL queries
  • Debugging and resolving technical issues
  • Supporting the modernisation of existing applications

The wider technology environment includes:

  • C#
  • .NET / .NET Framework
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Blazor
  • ASP.NET Web Forms
  • Dapper
  • AngularJS
  • GitHub Copilot
  • AI-assisted development and code review tools

A significant part of the current platform is still built using ASP.NET Web Forms.

Previous Web Forms experience is not required. You simply need to be comfortable working with an established codebase while helping the team gradually modernise it.

What They’re Looking For

The successful candidate is likely to have:

  • Commercial C# and .NET development experience
  • Good SQL knowledge
  • Strong hands-on coding ability
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Experience building, maintaining or improving commercial software

The client is open-minded on background. You could be degree educated, self-taught, apprenticeship trained or have taken another route into development. Practical ability is more important than formal qualifications.

They are also open to Developers with fewer years of experience where the technical fundamentals are particularly strong.

Working Arrangements

This can be a fully remote role anywhere in the UK.

For candidates based around Hull, there is also the option to work on a hybrid basis from the office, typically on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Working hours are approximately 8:35am to 5:00pm Monday to Thursday, with a 1:30pm finish every Friday.

Package

£45,000 - £50,000 salary

Fully remote working

Around 26 days’ holiday plus bank holidays

Strong pension scheme

Healthcare cashback after probation

Death-in-service cover

1:30pm finish every Friday

GitHub Copilot licence

Exposure to AI-assisted development tools

Interview Process

The interview process consists of:

  1. First-stage interview
  2. Online technical assessment
  3. Final management and cultural-fit interview

The technical assessment includes .NET, SQL, logical reasoning, problem-solving and some coding.

This is a strong opportunity for a practical .NET Developer who wants to work on a substantial software platform, contribute to its modernisation and join a stable team with genuine long-term retention.
