The Nuclear Regulator Engagement Coordinator will join GBE-N's Safety, Licencing and Assurance (SL&A) directorate, as part of the high-performing, friendly and enthusiastic Regulatory Engagement Office (REO) team. The REO team has a holistic approach to working with regulators and UK statutory stakeholders that brings consistency, efficiency, balance, clarity and high-impact benefits to the delivery of the SMR power plant at Gwyndod on Anglesey.

The role is primarily for the management of the administration, quality and consistency of formal regulator interactions (e.g. meetings, communications and performance monitoring). The role will work alongside the GBE-N technical teams that lead nuclear safety, design and licensing, as well as wider teams dealing with environmental and planning regulations.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate engagements (correspondence, meetings, visits, etc.) with the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) (other regulators will be managed by other REO team members).
  • Work with the Regulatory Engagement Lead to support development, implementation and compliance with REO working arrangements.
  • Support the technical teams with engagement administration e.g. coordination and quality control of actions, correspondence, KPIs and meeting agendas, packs and minutes.
  • Build effective relationships within the ONR and HSE.
  • Support tracking and reporting of contract budgets and schedules.
  • Support the sharing of information, insights and good practice across different teams within GBE-N, regulators and statutory bodies.
  • Support performance monitoring, reporting and improvement.
  • Other work required by the Regulatory Engagement Lead or SL&A team.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:
Essential:

  • Experience working with ONR or HSE.
  • Highly organised, with a good eye for detail.
  • A self-starting problem solver, who can work unsupervised.
  • Experience working with internal and external staff.
  • Experience using MS Office suite e.g. Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Word, Excel.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of nuclear or HSE regulations.
  • Experience working in the nuclear, or other highly regulated industry.
  • Experience working on national infrastructure energy / utility projects.
  • Experience working in new organisations, where not all arrangements are fully established.

Qualifications

  • Basic nuclear or HSE industry training is desirable, but not essential.
