TeacherActive is currently recruiting enthusiastic and dedicated Early Years professionals to support a wide range of fantastic nursery settings across Essex and surrounding areas. We have opportunities available in Chelmsford, Braintree, Colchester, Bishops Stortford, Cambridge and many other locations.

Whether you're looking for day-to-day supply, long-term bookings, part-time work, full-time hours or a permanent position, we'd love to hear from you.

Hours are available between 8:00am and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, with flexible working patterns to suit your availability.

The Role

As a Nursery Practitioner / Nursery Assistant, you will play a key role in providing a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment where children can thrive and reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care and support to children aged 0–5 years.
• Deliver engaging learning experiences in line with the EYFS Framework.
• Support children's learning, development and wellbeing.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues.
• Encourage children's independence through play and structured activities.
• Maintain a safe, clean and welcoming learning environment.
• Follow safeguarding policies and promote children's welfare at all times.
• Assist with observations, assessments and learning journals where required.
• Support meal times, personal care and daily routines.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should have:

• A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years, Childcare or an equivalent recognised qualification.
• Previous experience working within a nursery or Early Years setting.
• A good understanding of the EYFS Framework.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A genuine passion for supporting children's development.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• The right to work in the UK.
