Job Title: Ocean Export Operator

Location: Bradford

Salary: £28,000 - £37,000 (Dependent on experience)

A highly respected logistics provider in Bradford is looking for a structured Ocean Export Operator to join their busy international trade team. If you thrive on managing deep-sea outbound freight and want a role with excellent stability and career growth, this is for you.

Your Role

  • Export File Management: Take full ownership of deep-sea export shipments (FCL & LCL) from the point of UK origin right through to final delivery at the destination port or client site.

  • Customs Clearance: Prepare, review, and submit accurate export customs declarations, ensuring correct commodity codes, licensing, and absolute regulatory compliance.

  • Shipping Line & Haulier Liaison: Coordinate closely with overseas agents, ocean carriers, and UK transport companies to secure container bookings, equipment release, and arrange timely UK haulage.

  • Client Care: Deliver a premium service experience to key accounts, providing clear tracking milestones, proactive vessel delay notifications, and swift problem resolution.

  • Financial Control: Manage job costing, approve supplier invoices, and process accurate client billing to maximize file profitability.

What You’ll Need

  • Experience: 2+ years of dedicated experience handling ocean export operations within a UK freight forwarding environment.

  • Technical Knowledge: A solid grasp of export documentation (Bills of Lading, Certificates of Origin, commercial invoices), Incoterms, and customs procedures.

  • System Familiarity: Practical experience with freight operational systems like CargoWise, MultiFreight, or similar industry software.

  • Skills: Excellent communication and organization skills, with the ability to manage changing vessel schedules and strict shipping line cut-offs.
