Ocean Export Operator
WR Logistics
Salary: Up to £36,000
Location: Bristol
Are you an experienced Ocean Freight Operator looking for a role where you'll take ownership of shipments from start to finish rather than being just another cog in the machine?
We're recruiting on behalf of a long-established and highly respected international logistics business with an outstanding reputation in specialist global shipping. With decades of success behind them, they've built a loyal customer base through exceptional service, industry expertise and a genuine commitment to quality.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable, growing business where your knowledge will be valued, your ideas welcomed, and your career can continue to develop within a supportive and experienced team.
The Role
As an Ocean Export Operator, you'll manage international vehicle export shipments from booking through to final delivery. Acting as the main point of contact for customers, you'll ensure every shipment is handled efficiently while delivering an outstanding customer experience.
No two shipments are the same, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys variety, responsibility and building strong relationships with customers and overseas partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage international vehicle export shipments from booking through to delivery.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the shipping process.
- Liaise with shipping lines, overseas agents and logistics partners to secure bookings and coordinate schedules.
- Prepare Bills of Lading, shipping instructions and export documentation.
- Complete export customs declarations using HMRC CDS.
- Monitor shipment progress and provide proactive customer updates.
- Coordinate overseas customs clearance and final delivery arrangements.
- Produce customer invoices using internal systems.
- Maintain accurate shipment records and operational documentation.
- Resolve any shipment issues professionally and efficiently.
About You
You'll already have experience within freight forwarding and be confident managing export shipments with minimal supervision.
Essential
- Minimum of 2 years' experience within Ocean Freight Forwarding, Export Shipping or International Logistics.
- Strong understanding of ocean export procedures and documentation.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good Microsoft Office and IT skills.
- Able to work independently as well as within a collaborative team.
Desirable
- Experience preparing Bills of Lading and shipping instructions.
- Experience working with shipping lines, NVOCCs and overseas agents.
- Experience coordinating both FCL and LCL shipments.
- Knowledge of export customs procedures (training can be provided).
What's On Offer
- Salary up to £36,000 depending on experience.
- Company pension.
- Monday to Friday working hours.
- Free on-site parking.
- Long-term career opportunities within a financially secure and well-established business.
- Friendly, supportive and collaborative working environment.
- Opportunity to develop specialist expertise within a niche area of international shipping.
- A varied role with genuine responsibility and autonomy from day one.
Why Apply?
This isn't a high-volume forwarding environment where you'll only manage one stage of the process. Instead, you'll oversee each shipment from beginning to end, building relationships with customers and overseas partners while playing a key role in delivering a first-class service.
If you're looking to join a business that values experience, invests in its people and offers long-term stability alongside interesting, varied work, we'd love to hear from you.
