Import Operations Coordinator - Freight Forwarding

Location: Chelmsford
Salary: Up to £35,000 DOE
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 3 days in the office, 2 days from home Mon - Fri

The Opportunity

We're currently working with a well-established and highly regarded freight forwarding business that is looking to add import Operations Coordinator to its growing team in Chelmsford.

The company has a strong reputation within the freight forwarding sector and is continuing to develop its operations. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in ocean/sea freight imports who enjoys being hands-on, dealing directly with customers and suppliers, and taking ownership of shipments from start to finish.

You'll be joining an experienced operations team and working closely with the Operations Manager, customers, overseas agents, suppliers and transport providers to ensure shipments move efficiently and customers are kept fully updated.

What will you be doing?

• Managing the end-to-end import process, ensuring shipments are handled efficiently from arrival through to delivery.
• Liaising with customers and clients to provide regular updates and ensure their requirements are met.
• Working closely with overseas agents, suppliers, freight forwarders and transport companies to obtain accurate and up-to-date shipment information.
• Coordinating deliveries and ensuring transport providers have everything they need to meet customer requirements.
• Checking and maintaining all relevant shipping and import documentation.
• Ensuring files are kept accurately and that shipments are correctly costed and billed.

About You

We're looking for someone with previous experience within freight forwarding, ideally with a strong background in ocean/sea freight imports.

You'll ideally have:

• Previous experience in a freight forwarding operations role.
• Good knowledge of the ocean import process.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to deal with customers, suppliers, agents and hauliers.
