About the role
We're looking for an Operational Trainer to join our team and play a key role in developing the skills, knowledge and competence of our colleagues across operational activities.
Reporting into the Site HR Lead, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality training programmes focused on Material Handling Equipment (MHE), operational processes and safe ways of working. You'll ensure colleagues have the knowledge, confidence and authorisation to carry out their roles safely and effectively, while supporting compliance with business standards and legislative requirements.
Working closely with operational leaders, Health & Safety and the Education & Training (E&T) Pillar, you'll help drive a culture of safety, capability and continuous improvement. From delivering forklift training and conducting competence assessments to developing Job Operating Procedures (JOPs) and supporting colleague development, you'll have a direct impact on operational performance and colleague growth.

What will you be doing?
Delivering operational and MHE training
Providing accredited and internal training for Material Handling Equipment including Counterbalance, Reach Truck, Powered Pallet Truck, VNA and other authorised equipment, while delivering both practical and classroom-based learningAssessing competence and developing colleagues
Conducting operator assessments, refresher training, re-certification programmes and coaching colleagues to ensure they operate safely, confidently and effectivelyMaintaining compliance and training standards
Managing training records, competence matrices and operator authorisations, while creating and updating training documentation including JOPs, One Point Lessons (OPLs) and job aidsSupporting safety and operational excellence
Promoting safe working practices, supporting battery charging and maintenance activities, working at height training, racking inspections and investigating MHE-related incidents and near missesDriving continuous improvement and capability building
Partnering with operational leaders, HR and the E&T Pillar to identify skills gaps, deliver development plans and continuously improve training materials, standards and processes
We’d love to hear from you if you can bring:
MHE training experience and qualifications
An accredited Material Handling Equipment (MHE) or Forklift Instructor qualification, along with experience delivering training within a manufacturing, logistics or warehousing environmentHealth & Safety knowledge and a safety-first mindset
A good understanding of Health & Safety requirements relating to MHE operations, with a commitment to promoting safe working practices and compliance across the siteStrong coaching and communication skills
Experience delivering training, carrying out competence assessments and coaching colleagues to build confidence, capability and safe working practicesOrganisation and attention to detail
The ability to maintain accurate training records, competence matrices and training documentation while managing multiple priorities effectivelyA passion for developing people
A genuine interest in helping colleagues learn new skills, improve performance and reach their full potential in a fast-paced operational environmentA proactive and professional approach
Strong problem-solving skills, confidence using Microsoft Office and training management systems, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and compliance
