Salary: Circa £26,500 (depending on experience)
Location: Transport & Logistics Environment
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8:30am to 5:30pm, with 1 hour lunch break)
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and organised Operations Administrator to join a busy transport and logistics operation. This role is an integral part of the Transport Department and will initially focus on supporting the Transport Management team, particularly within a pallet network operation.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of transport activities, providing support to drivers, depots, customers and internal teams. Over time, the role will expand to provide broader operational support across the transport function, offering excellent opportunities for development and progression.
This position would suit an individual with strong administrative skills, excellent communication abilities and a positive, proactive approach to work.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer and direct incoming telephone calls.
- Welcome and assist visitors to the site.
- Act as a key point of contact for drivers, customers, depots and internal colleagues.
- Manage shared email inboxes and ensure queries are handled efficiently and professionally.
- Provide telephone and email support relating to pallet network operations.
- Resolve operational queries from customers, drivers and depot teams.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop a thorough understanding of transport and pallet network processes.
- Assist with workload management and provide cover for colleagues when required.
- Support the wider business with projects and additional administrative tasks.
- Help ensure the transport operation runs smoothly and efficiently at all times.
- Strong administration and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Confident using Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
- Team player with a positive attitude.
- Eager to learn and develop within a transport and logistics environment.
- GCSEs (or equivalent).
- Previous experience within transport, logistics, fleet management or a similar operational environment.
- Ideally 3 years' experience in a transport or vehicle management-related role.
- Competitive salary of circa £26,500 depending on experience.
