Operations Director - Technical Manufacturing
North West England | up to £140,000 + Bonus + Car Allowance + Benefits

A privately owned global manufacturing business is seeking an Operations Director to lead a significant operational transformation across its UK manufacturing and operational functions.

The business manufactures a broad range of technical engineered products supplied into international industrial markets, with a strong focus on quality, operational reliability and manufacturing performance.

The company already has a strong market position, profitable operations, and an established international footprint. The focus now is on evolving the operational structure into a more scalable, commercially responsive and accountable organisation capable of supporting continued international growth.

This is not a maintenance role.

The successful individual will be expected to assess the current operational structure, strengthen accountability across leadership teams, improve manufacturing competitiveness, and drive meaningful operational change across the business.

The role covers:

  • Manufacturing & Production
  • Purchasing & Supply Chain
  • Logistics
  • Machine Shop Operations
  • UK & European Service / Repair Operations
  • Broader Operational Leadership

The environment is high-mix manufacturing with broad SKU complexity and a strong electromechanical engineering focus.

A major focus moving forward is improving manufacturing efficiency, operational scalability and overall competitiveness through:

  • lean manufacturing
  • process improvement
  • operational integration
  • supply chain optimisation
  • improved operational visibility and accountability

The role requires somebody comfortable operating within technically complex manufacturing environments where operational efficiency, manufacturability and continuous improvement are key commercial drivers.

The culture of the business is fast-paced, commercially driven and highly pragmatic. This environment will suit somebody who is:

  • operationally hands-on
  • decisive
  • commercially aware
  • comfortable making difficult decisions
  • naturally accountable
  • able to drive change at pace

The business is unlikely to suit somebody who prefers heavily layered corporate structures or highly theoretical transformation environments.

Backgrounds of interest could include:

  • instrumentation
  • electronics assembly
  • electrical products
  • technical manufacturing
  • precision engineered products
  • electromechanical assembly environments

The successful individual will most likely come from a manufacturing environment involving smaller engineered or electromechanical products rather than large-scale process manufacturing or major capital equipment projects.

Package includes:

  • Base salary c.£140,000
  • 20% bonus
  • £9,500 car allowance
  • Private healthcare
  • Pension
  • Additional benefits

This is a high-impact leadership appointment offering the opportunity to play a major role in shaping the future operational direction of a successful international manufacturing business.

If you recognise yourself in the above, I would welcome the opportunity to have a discreet, no-obligation conversation to discuss the role and wider business in more detail.
