Operations Manager Overview

My client is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Operations Manager to lead and support their freight forwarding operations across Air, Sea, and European Road services. This is a hands-on management role, ideal for someone who is equally comfortable overseeing a team and getting involved in the day-to-day operational workload when required.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the operation, maintaining high levels of customer service, and supporting the continued growth of the business.

Operations Manager Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of Air Freight, Sea Freight, and European Road Freight services.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the operations team while maintaining a hands-on approach.
• Complete and manage import and export customs clearances accurately and efficiently.
• Ensure all shipments are processed in line with customer requirements and compliance regulations.
• Monitor operational performance, identify improvements, and implement best practices.
• Support and develop team members while maintaining high standards of service delivery.
• Liaise with customers, carriers, and suppliers to ensure seamless freight movements.
• Assist with problem-solving and escalation management to deliver effective solutions.

Operations Manager Requirements

• Proven experience in freight forwarding operations across Air, Sea, and European Road Freight.
• Strong knowledge of import and export customs clearance procedures.
• Previous experience managing or supervising an operations team.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• A hands-on approach with a willingness to support the team in daily operations.

• Experience using CargoWise software.
• Strong commercial awareness and a continuous improvement mindset.
