Initial 3-month contract

Samuel Frank is recruiting for an experienced OT Cyber Security Engineer to join a project based in Chesterfield. The role will initially run for 3 months and will be a mixture of office-based and home working, although the amount of time on site will be driven by the technology being worked on and the need to access equipment.

The successful OT Cyber Security Engineer will work on the implementation, configuration and testing of cyber security functionality within an Operational Technology (OT) environment.

The role would suit a contractor with a strong combination of OT cyber security, industrial networking, Windows Server and network security experience. A background working on large-scale industrial, process, utilities, power generation or critical infrastructure projects would be particularly relevant.

Key responsibilities

  • Investigate, configure, implement and test OT cyber security technologies
  • Implement and test TXOne EDR / Anti-Virus
  • Configure Synology NAS drives
  • Configure Windows Server facilities, including web proxy and patching
  • Work with SolarWinds SIEM / monitoring technologies
  • Feed findings and technical detail back into the project’s implementation specification
  • Work alongside other engineers responsible for Nozomi IDS, OPSWAT Remote Access, firewalls and switches
  • Support the implementation of secure and segmented OT networks
  • Produce technical documentation relating to configuration, testing and implementation

Experience required

  • Strong Operational Technology / OT cyber security background
  • Industrial networking and cyber networking experience
  • Windows Server configuration and security
  • EDR / Anti-Virus implementation and testing
  • SIEM, security monitoring or threat-monitoring experience
  • Network security, segmentation, switches and firewalls
  • Experience configuring, testing and troubleshooting secure industrial networks
  • Understanding of cyber security standards and network hardening
  • Comfortable working with engineers, architects and other technical stakeholders
  • Ability to investigate unfamiliar technology, configure it, test it and document the resulting solution

Experience with NIST and/or IEC 62443 would be useful, alongside knowledge of secure, highly available industrial networks.

Candidates with experience across SCADA/control system infrastructure, virtualisation, Active Directory, Group Policy, VLANs, firewalls and Windows Server environments would also be particularly relevant.

Experience of SolarWinds, network monitoring, SIEM solutions or continuous OT threat monitoring would be advantageous.

This is an outside IR35 contract paying £70 per hour, initially for 3 months, working on a hybrid basis from Chesterfield.
