PK Education are working in partnership with a number of schools, alternative provisions, specialist SEND settings and support services across Newcastle and the surrounding areas, who are looking to recruit dedicated Outreach Workers, Family Support Workers and Pastoral Support Staff for long-term positions starting in September.
These rewarding roles are ideal for individuals with experience supporting children, young people and families who face barriers to education, attendance, behaviour, wellbeing or engagement. The RoleAs an Outreach Worker, you will provide tailored support to pupils and families, helping to improve attendance, wellbeing, behaviour and educational outcomes while working closely with schools and external agencies.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing pastoral, emotional and wellbeing support to pupils
- Building positive relationships with students and their families
- Supporting attendance, behaviour and engagement strategies
- Delivering targeted interventions on a one-to-one and small group basis
- Conducting home visits and liaising with parents and carers where required
- Working alongside safeguarding, SEND and senior leadership teams
- Supporting pupils with SEMH, Autism, ADHD and a range of additional needs
- Promoting inclusion, resilience and positive educational outcomes
- Acting as a key point of contact between schools, families and external agencies
- Have experience working with children, young people or families
- Have a background in education, youth work, social care, family support, mentoring or pastoral care
- Are confident building professional relationships with pupils, parents and external professionals
- Have excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
- Are resilient, empathetic and adaptable
- Are passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable children and young people
Experience in any of the following areas would be highly advantageous:
- Attendance and persistent absence
- SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health)
- Behaviour support
- Safeguarding and child protection
- SEND and additional learning needs
- Family liaison and multi-agency working
- Alternative provision settings
- Youth offending, mentoring or community outreach
- Opportunities across a wide range of educational settings
