Up to £33.03 p/h PAYE + Holiday + Pension or £44.83 p/h Umbrella
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Packaging Engineer to join a global engineering and manufacturing leader at its Stockton-on-Tees facility!
This is a highly autonomous role where you'll take ownership of packaging engineering projects that directly impact safety, quality, logistics performance and operational efficiency. As the dedicated Packaging Engineering presence on-site, you'll be instrumental in driving continuous improvement initiatives and delivering innovative packaging solutions across the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development and optimisation of packaging solutions
- Drive packaging improvements that enhance safety, quality and operational performance
- Use CAD software to review, assess and develop packaging designs
- Interpret technical and CAD drawings to support engineering activities
- Collaborate with suppliers, logistics providers and internal stakeholders
- Approve packaging solutions and minimise transportation damage risks
- Evaluate packaging materials, equipment and automation technologies
- Lead continuous improvement projects focused on cost, safety and efficiency
- Support supplier visits and occasional travel for training purposes
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- CAD proficiency and experience carrying out design reviews
- Ability to read and interpret technical/CAD drawings
- Engineering or technical background within manufacturing, packaging or industrial environments
- Strong project management and project leadership experience
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Desirable:
- Experience within automotive, heavy manufacturing, industrial engineering or returnable packaging environments
- Packaging Engineering or Engineering qualification
- Technical documentation and presentation skills
- Knowledge of global supply chains
