Jackson Hogg are delighted to be supporting a well-established manufacturing business in the appointment of a Paint Production Manager.
This is a key operational leadership role, taking ownership of a technically advanced paint facility, with responsibility for delivering performance across quality, output, and efficiency.

There is flexibility within the brief , the business is open to both permanent leadership hires and experienced paint specialists on a contract basis, depending on background and expertise.

Why This Role Exists

The business is looking to strengthen leadership across its paint operations, with a clear focus on:

  • Improving First Time Right (RFT) performance
  • Driving OEE and throughput
  • Reducing scrap, rework, and downtime
  • Stabilising and optimising robotic paint processes

This role will suit someone who can identify issues quickly, take control on the shop floor, and drive standards through the team.

The Role

You will lead all paint production activity across automated robotic paint lines, ensuring:

  • Production runs to plan, safely and efficiently
  • All components meet cosmetic and technical specifications
  • Process performance is continuously improved

You’ll also work closely with engineering to support:

  • Robotic paint systems (ABB, Fanuc or similar)
  • Electrostatic and conventional spraying
  • Paint delivery and circulation systems
  • Ovens and associated plant equipment

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop supervisors and production teams
  • Drive improvements across RFT, OEE, and material utilisation
  • Lead root cause investigations into quality and process issues
  • Support new product introduction, paint trials and launches
  • Ensure compliance with HSE, COSHH and environmental standards

What We’re Looking For

This isn’t a generalist production role, experience within paint operations is essential.

You’ll likely have:

  • Proven experience in high-volume paint production environments
  • Strong understanding of robotic and automated paint systems
  • Experience with electrostatic and conventional spraying technologies
  • Knowledge of paint application processes, chemistry, and optimisation
  • A track record of improving process stability and performance metrics
  • The ability to lead teams and drive accountability on shift

Contract Option

The business is also open to experienced Paint Specialists on a contract basis, particularly those with a strong background in:

  • Robotic paint optimisation
  • Transfer efficiency improvement
  • Process stabilisation and fault finding

This could suit individuals who prefer short-term, high-impact assignments.

Location

? Pickering, North Yorkshire
This role is best suited to candidates based locally or within a commutable distance, including:

  • Scarborough
  • Malton
  • Whitby
  • York (eastern side)

Realistically, long-term travel from Teesside or Tyneside is unlikely to be sustainable.
