Are you an experienced Paint Shop Supervisor, or Coatings Supervisor with a strong background in industrial painting or protective coatings?

We are recruiting for an experienced Paint Shop Supervisor to lead a busy workshop-based coating operation in South Lanarkshire.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be responsible for coordinating people, materials and production activity to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.



The Role

As Paint Shop Supervisor, you will:

  • Plan daily and forward workloads to ensure the team has clear priorities.
  • Allocate work according to production requirements and individual skills.
  • Manage labour, materials and equipment to maintain production flow.
  • Coordinate material movements with other workshop teams.
  • Monitor team performance, productivity and downtime.
  • Ensure coating work is completed to specification and quality requirements.
  • Monitor coating and consumable usage and minimise unnecessary waste.
  • Coordinate inspections and ensure defects or damaged work are rectified.
  • Ensure production records and tracking systems are accurately maintained.
  • Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, PPE, COSHH and risk assessment compliance.
  • Ensure painting equipment, tools and consumables are available and fit for use.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping and workshop organisation.
  • Lead, motivate and develop the team, including trainees and apprentices.
  • Address performance issues appropriately and escalate where required.
  • Provide regular updates to management regarding workload, progress, quality, bottlenecks and delivery priorities.


About You

You will ideally have:

  • Previous supervisory, team leader or foreman experience within manufacturing, fabrication or industrial coatings.
  • Strong experience within protective or industrial coatings.
  • Experience managing a team within a production/workshop environment.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • The confidence to make decisions and solve problems under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • A proactive approach to achieving production targets without compromising safety or quality.
