About the Role
We are currently recruiting for 3 experienced Paint Sprayers/Preppers to join a leading rail engineering business. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled individuals with experience in rail, marine, aerospace, power generation or other heavy industrial painting environments.
The role is predominantly focused on vehicle and component preparation, with approximately 70% of the workload dedicated to surface preparation and 30% involving paint spraying activities.
Successful candidates will be responsible for preparing rail vehicle components to the highest quality standards before applying specialist coatings and finishes in line with customer and industry specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare rail vehicles and components for painting and finishing.
Clean, sand, mask, fill and repair surface imperfections.
Carry out minor surface repairs and preparation work to achieve high-quality finishes.
Mix paints, coatings and primers to specification.
Operate spray-painting equipment safely and effectively.
Apply primers, base coats and finishing coats using water-based paint systems.
Conduct quality inspections throughout the preparation and painting process.
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company quality standards.
Follow strict health, safety and environmental procedures at all times.
Maintain equipment, tools and work areas to a high standard.
Candidate Requirements
We are keen to hear from candidates with experience in:
Rail industry/Marine industry/Aerospace industry/Power generation and Industrial paint spraying environments
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience in paint preparation and spray painting.
Strong surface preparation skills including sanding, masking, filling and finishing.
Experience using industrial spray-painting equipment.
Ability to work to detailed quality standards and specifications.
Strong understanding of health and safety requirements in an industrial environment.
Ability to work effectively within a shift-based operation.
Important Information
Approximately 70% of the role is preparation work.
Approximately 30% of the role involves spray painting.
Candidates must successfully complete a spray test as part of the assessment process.
Candidates with only SMART repair experience are unlikely to be suitable unless they have significant structural or industrial repair experience beyond cosmetic repairs.
