Our client, a well-established engineering and manufacturing business, is looking to recruit an experienced Panel Wirer to join their production, assembly, and test facility based in Birmingham City Centre.

The company designs, manufactures, and repairs a wide range of electrical and electronic products for the defence and industrial sectors, including ATEX lighting, electrical distribution systems, instrumentation, and control solutions. The Role

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will become part of the assembly team, responsible for wiring and assembling products ranging from lighting units through to complex control and distribution panels for defence and industrial applications.

This role would suit an experienced Panel Wirer who takes pride in producing high-quality work and can work both independently and as part of a skilled manufacturing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Wire and assemble electrical products, from light fittings to control cabinets and distribution panels.
  • Carry out point-to-point wiring, cable routing, crimping, soldering, and cable termination.
  • Read and interpret GA drawings, wiring schematics, and mechanical drawings.
  • Complete mechanical and electrical assembly to a high standard.
  • Use hand tools and workshop equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure all work meets company quality standards and production requirements.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in control panel wiring.
  • Strong point-to-point wiring experience.
  • Experience with cable termination, including crimping and soldering.
  • Ability to read and interpret GA drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Experience in electrical assembly and cable routing.
  • Able to work independently and manage your own workload.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working to IPC Class 3 and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
  • Prototype or development wiring experience.
  • Basic electrical testing experience.
  • Previous experience supporting or mentoring colleagues within a production environment.

Working Hours

Monday – Thursday: 7:30am – 4:00pm

Friday: 7:30am – 12:30pm
