Role: part time Finance Manager 

Location: office based in Central Beds (no hybrid or remote offered)

Days/Hours: 25 hrs per week 
flexible between the hours of 8am - 530pm Mon-Fri 

Salary: circa £50,000 - £60,000 pro rata depending on experience and qualifications

It is not often you come across part time roles, least of all in the finance and accounting divisions, yet here we are, looking for a 25 hour per week Finance Manager, to work for a construction and engineering company and its great team!

Purpose of the Role
You will be fundamentally employed to oversee all the financial operations of this medium sized, multi-million pound turnover company. This includes financial compliance, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, payroll, VAT, tax liabilities and long-term financial planning, projections and forecasting.  Your small and perfectly formed team, will of course be supporting this, but as the finance manager, you will be reviewing, checking, consulting and signing it off.  

You will work closely with the senior leadership team to understand, in detail, the business and help offer your guidance and support to aid the continued growth and success of this already successful business. 

Duties & Responsibilities 

Finance and Budgeting 

  • Drive and optimise probability and cashflow 
  • Look at opportunities to innovate ways of supporting and driving business growth 
  • Create and present financial reports 
  • Develop and review annual budgets 
  • Monitor cashflow, expenditure and company financial performance 
  • Work closely with departments and leaders to understand and assist in budgeting, costing and spend 


Operations

  • Ensure great engagement with all departments to review costs etc with a view of maximising savings 
  • Oversee payroll, invoicing, accounts and VAT submissions 
  • Review the existing accounting systems used, with a view of identifying opportunities to better them and their functionality, working with software partners to ensure the systems are being maximised to full opportunity 
  • Manage tax liabilities and financial compliance.  You will be working with your team and external accountants to support this. 
  • Advise on risk mitigation strategy 
  • Monitor contracts 

Legal 

  • Ensure all compliance met 
  • keep up to date with financial legalities including all potential available funding and/or government schemes/grants to assist and further the business 
  • Have a good understanding of the process of filing patents and utilising to the company’s advantage
  • Provide financial analysis, forecasting & any financial information required for upcoming projects 


Who You Are and What You Need 
As a matter of course, you will be an experienced and credible Finance Manager, who is also a great, supportive team leader.  Someone, who is prepared to get stuck in and help rather than just direct - this is a real hands-on team and company.
Great command of English written and verbal skills is a must, as you will be doing accounts presentations, etc    And you will be within a reasonable commute of the offices circa 1 hr max commute. 

Other must haves:
 - related sector experience ie manufacturing, construction so you understand the accountancy and financial nuances like CIS, VAT, etc 
- budget management of VAT,CIS, payroll 
- experience of using financial software systems, and with modelling and forecasting 
- relevant qualifications ACA or CIMA 
- a good understanding of all taxation laws and regulations, including VAT, income and corporate tax, governance and compliance 
- the ability to be flexible to changing priorities and needs 
- really focused on achieving deadlines 
- a confident, engaging, mentor who can lead and develop teams 
- full rights to work in the UK (no sponsorship is given)
- 5 years or so experience at this level and within the sectors required 

This is a very well established company with quite a unique product offering.  This role is a new one as the company is experiencing such growth and want to ensure all is done compliantly and correctly, as well as ensuring they can maximise on all allowances for their patents, and business running. 

It is a small team of 5 that you will be working with and of course, the external accountants.
