This role also incorporates elements of Quality Management and is ideal for a candidate looking for a flexible, part-time position with meaningful impact.

The Role
You will play a key role in leading the organisation through the UKAS accreditation process for calibration activities, particularly relating to autoclaves and associated equipment. Working closely with engineering teams, you will ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards and help embed best practices across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the UKAS accreditation process for calibration services
  • Implement and maintain procedures based on an existing Quality Manual
  • Ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements
  • Conduct internal audits and support quality system implementation
  • Oversee and guide calibration activities involving time, temperature, and pressure
  • Develop, review, and apply uncertainty budgets
  • Interpret and apply EN ratios for inter-laboratory comparisons (ILCs)
  • Conduct and assess drift analysis
  • Train, mentor, and motivate engineers with limited experience of the standard
  • Support auditing, authorisation, and continuous improvement activities

About the Environment

  • Calibration equipment is already in place and actively used for autoclave calibration
  • All internal and external calibrations are up to date
  • Initial inter-laboratory comparisons (temperature probes and pressure gauges) have been completed
  • Further training, auditing, and formal authorisation processes are required to meet accreditation standards

About You

  • Strong working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025:2017
  • Proven experience in calibration (time, temperature, pressure)
  • Solid understanding of uncertainty budgets and drift analysis
  • Experience with inter-laboratory comparisons and EN ratio interpretation
  • Ability to audit and implement quality systems effectively
  • Confident in training and developing technical teams

Additional Information

  • This is a part-time employed position; however, consultants will also be considered
  • The organisation is seeking the right expertise and will not offer higher rates for consultancy arrangements

If you are an experienced Technical or Quality professional with a passion for standards, accreditation, and developing teams, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact in a flexible working arrangement.
