Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective lessons in line with the National Curriculum
  • Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of pupils
  • Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND, EAL, and higher attainment
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports learning and wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with parallel class teachers and teaching assistants to ensure continuity across the week
  • Contribute to medium- and long-term planning within the year group
  • Maintain high expectations of behaviour in line with the school’s policies
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress and wellbeing
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and school events as appropriate to the role
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching in a primary setting
  • Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum, including phonics and early maths
  • Ability to plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons
  • Effective classroom management skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of phonics schemes 
  • Experience working in a job-share or part-time teaching role
  • Understanding of assessment frameworks

Additional Information

  • The role may involve a job-share arrangement with another teacher
  • Planning and handover time will be essential to ensure continuity of learning
  • The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check
