Parts / Service Manager

Location: Doncaster, South Yorkshire
Salary: £40,000 - £60,000, dependent on experience
Hours: Monday to Thursday 8:00am - 5:00pm, Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Parts / Service Manager to join a well-established and growing engineering and machinery manufacturing business based in Doncaster.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong hands-on engineering background who is ready to take ownership of both a busy service engineering team and the company's spare parts function.

The role will be approximately 90% office based and 10% travel, making it particularly suitable for an experienced Service Engineer, Service Manager or Engineering Supervisor who wants to move away from being constantly on the road while remaining heavily involved in the technical side of engineering.



Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop the company's spare parts department
  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and organisation of the spares function
  • Oversee a team of approximately 8-9 Service / Installation Engineers
  • Provide technical support and guidance to engineers when required
  • Assist engineers with technical problems, breakdowns and customer requirements
  • Manage and coordinate service and installation activities
  • Support the continued growth of the Service and Installation Engineering teams
  • Improve spare parts stock control, recording and availability
  • Work closely with engineering and other departments to improve service delivery
  • Use previous hands-on engineering experience to provide practical technical support
  • Help develop processes and procedures across the service and spares functions


What We're Looking For

  • Strong hands-on engineering background
  • Time-served Engineer or equivalent practical engineering experience
  • Previous experience within Service Engineering, Field Service, Installation or Engineering Management
  • Experience supervising, leading or supporting Service Engineers would be highly advantageous
  • Strong technical fault-finding and problem-solving ability
  • Experience within machinery, industrial equipment or manufacturing environments
  • Good organisational and people-management skills
  • Experience managing spare parts, engineering stores or stock would be advantageous
  • Comfortable dealing with customers and providing technical support
  • Agricultural machinery or agricultural engineering experience would be particularly advantageous
  • Someone capable of identifying improvements and helping grow the department


Package

  • £40,000 - £60,000 salary, dependent on experience
  • Permanent, days-based position
  • Monday to Thursday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
  • Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
  • Approximately 90% office based / 10% travel
