Passive Fire Surveyor in Sinclairtown, Fife

Contract dates a duration: 16 November – 11 December 2026, approximately four-weeks

ProGroup Recruitment is currently recruiting an experienced Passive Fire Surveyor for a four-week temporary contract working across two residential buildings in Fife.

The project involves detailed inspections of existing passive fire protection measures to identify breaches in fire-resisting compartmentation and support the reinstatement of a stay-put fire strategy.

The role

Working across occupied and vacant residential properties, you will be responsible for:

• Conducting detailed fire compartmentation surveys across flats, communal areas, plant rooms and roof voids.

• Identifying breaches in 60-minute fire-resisting construction, including service penetrations, unsuitable firestopping materials and defective seals.

• Inspecting fire barriers, compartment floors, risers, electrical cupboards, lift shaft penetrations and access hatches.

• Using borescopes to inspect concealed voids and identify potential compartmentation defects.

• Undertaking limited, non-destructive opening-up works where required, ensuring all openings are reinstated the same day.

• Recording findings accurately, including photographic evidence and clear descriptions of identified defects.

• Raising any works outside the agreed scope through the appropriate RFI process.

• Following site access procedures and working safely within occupied residential environments.

Requirements

• Proven experience conducting fire compartmentation and passive fire protection surveys.

• Strong technical understanding of fire-resisting construction, firestopping systems and compartmentation defects.

• Experience inspecting concealed voids, service penetrations and roof spaces.

• Competence using borescopes and producing detailed inspection reports.

• Relevant passive fire protection qualifications or third-party training desirable.

• Valid PVG clearance is essential, or willingness to get one

• Available for the full contract period, 16 November – 11 December 2026.
