Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Assistant to support students within a welcoming secondary school on the Wirral. This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about promoting student wellbeing, improving attendance, supporting behaviour, and helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
Working closely with the school's pastoral and safeguarding teams, you will provide emotional and behavioural support to students, helping them develop resilience, confidence, and positive relationships. Pastoral Assistants play a key role in ensuring pupils feel safe, supported, and ready to engage with education.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group pastoral support to students.
- Support pupils experiencing social, emotional, or behavioural difficulties.
- Assist with attendance monitoring and interventions.
- Promote positive behaviour in line with school policies.
- Build strong relationships with students, parents/carers, and external agencies.
- Support students during transitions and throughout the school day.
- Help deliver wellbeing, mentoring, and emotional regulation programmes.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to safeguarding and pastoral meetings.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational, youth work, care, mentoring, or support setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
- The ability to build positive relationships and act as a trusted adult.
- Experience supporting behaviour, attendance, or wellbeing initiatives is desirable.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
