The Business

Our client is a well-established and successful business operating across the region. As part of their continued growth, they are looking for a reliable and practical Handyman to join their team and support the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of their sites.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting and testing electrical equipment, identifying defects and potential safety hazards, accurately recording test results, and ensuring that work is completed in accordance with relevant health and safety requirements and company procedures.

Your responsibilities will include:
 

  • Carry out visual inspections and electrical safety testing of portable and movable electrical equipment.
  • Identify damaged, defective or potentially unsafe equipment.
  • Complete PAT testing using appropriate calibrated testing equipment.
  • Apply appropriate test labels and identify equipment requiring further attention.
  • Maintain accurate records of all equipment tested and test results.
  • Produce reports and documentation as required.
  • Follow site-specific health and safety procedures and risk assessments.
  • Report any electrical safety concerns or defective equipment to the relevant person.
  • Liaise professionally with customers, site staff and colleagues.
  • Work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of accuracy.
  • Ensure testing equipment is properly maintained and used correctly.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures and relevant electrical safety requirements.
  • Travel to customer sites where required.

 

The Person

We are looking for a dependable, hands-on individual who isn't afraid to get stuck in and take ownership of their work.

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience carrying out PAT testing.

  • Good understanding of electrical safety principles.
  • Ability to identify common electrical defects and hazards.
  • Competent in using PAT testing equipment.
  • Good attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Reliable, professional and safety-conscious approach.
  • Relevant electrical or PAT testing qualification/training.
