Hays are delighted to be partnering with a well-established and growing Cornwall-based business to recruit a Payroll & Finance Administrator on a 12-month maternity cover contract.
The organisation operates across several group businesses and has built a strong reputation within its sector. Due to a period of maternity leave, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced payroll and finance professional to support one of the group's subsidiary businesses.This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative finance team within a stable and growing organisation, offering a varied, hands-on role and flexible part-time hours.
Your new roleReporting to the Finance Controller, you will be responsible for managing payroll and transactional finance activities for one of the group's subsidiary businesses.The payroll element covers approximately 25 employees, consisting of both salaried and hourly-paid staff. Alongside payroll responsibilities, you will support the finance function through reconciliations, supplier account management and general finance administration.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Processing monthly payroll for approximately 25 employees
- Maintaining payroll records and resolving payroll-related queries
- Supporting pension administration and payroll compliance activities
- Completing bank reconciliations
- Completing supplier statement reconciliations and resolving queries
- Supporting Purchase Ledger activities, including invoice processing and supplier payments
- Assisting with journals and maintaining accurate financial records
- Supporting month-end finance processes
- Providing general finance and administrative support to the wider team
- Assisting with a future payroll system migration project
The company currently uses Xero Payroll and NetSuite, with plans to migrate to Zoho in the future.What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this position, you will have previous experience within a payroll and finance environment and be comfortable working independently within a small team.
You will also demonstrate:
- Previous payroll processing experience
- Experience completing bank reconciliations
- Experience completing supplier or Purchase Ledger reconciliations
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work accurately to deadlines
- Good communication skills and a proactive approach
- Experience using finance systems and Microsoft Excel
The following would be advantageous:
- Xero Payroll experience
- Purchase Ledger experience
- Bookkeeping experience
- AAT studies or accounting qualifications
- Experience working within an SME environment
