We are happy to be recruiting for one of our high-profile utilities clients. They are currently looking for a Payroll Advisor to join them for an initial 5-month contract. However, there may be scope for extension.

Overview of the Role:

A project‑focused Payroll Advisor dedicated to the payroll implementation project (Resolve). The role elicits and documents requirements, supports configuration and integrations, plans and executes user acceptance testing, and contributes to data migration, cutover and hypercare. It bridges the operational payroll team, People Systems and external providers to deliver a compliant, well‑controlled and employee‑centred solution.

Key Accountabilities:

• Elicit, document and validate payroll business requirements, controls and integrations, translating as‑is processes into to‑be designs with clear acceptance criteria.
• Design, script and execute UAT including end‑to‑end parallel runs; capture defects, perform root‑cause analysis, coordinate fixes and re‑testing, and evidence outcomes for go‑live readiness.
• Support data migration and reconciliation (employee master data, pay elements, balances); perform sample‑based and full‑population checks and maintain audit trails.
• Contribute to process mapping, procedures and control documentation; ensure compliance with HMRC requirements and company policies, including GDPR.
• Work closely with People Systems, Payroll, Reward, Finance and external providers to manage impacts, dependencies and change; contribute to training materials and knowledge transfer.
• Support cutover planning and post‑go‑live hypercare, including KPI tracking and lessons learned to embed continuous improvement.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Solid in‑house UK payroll knowledge consistent with a Payroll Advisor; exceptional attention to detail and data quality.
• Understanding of HMRC requirements (RTI, FPS/EPS, Tax, NI and taxable benefits) and payroll controls.
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets; exposure to SuccessFactors EC Payroll desirable.
• Experience of or aptitude for UAT/test execution, documentation and defect management in a project environment.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills and strong collaboration across technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• CIPP Foundation (or working towards) or equivalent experience.

Location:

This is a hybrid working role with a requirement to work from the clients Warwick office 2 days a week. There will be demand for more frequent days during busy periods

Working hours:

Standard working hours with some flex where required.
