With over 15 years’ experience, we are known for delivering exceptional service to clients and candidates. As we continue to grow, we are looking for an organised, proactive and detail-focused Payroll & Compliance Administrator to join our Operations team.
Previous payroll experience is not essential. If you have strong administration skills, excellent attention to detail and a willingness to learn, we will provide the training and support you need to develop a successful career with us.
The Role Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will help ensure our temporary workforce is paid accurately and on time while maintaining high standards of compliance and administration.
Working closely with recruitment consultants, finance, clients and candidates, you will support our weekly payroll and compliance processes in a varied and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities Payroll Administration
- Assist with weekly payroll processing for PAYE, Umbrella and Limited Company contractors.
- Accurately input authorised timesheets and meet strict payroll deadlines.
- Check payroll information before submission and process new starters, leavers and amendments.
- Maintain employee records, including bank, tax, National Insurance and personal details.
- Process starter declarations, P45s and other payroll documentation.
- Assist with holiday pay, reconciliations and payroll reporting.
- Match timesheets against invoices and client records.
- Investigate and resolve payroll queries promptly and professionally.
- Process rejected BACS payments where required.
- Assist with statutory deductions, including Attachments of Earnings.
- Produce duplicate payslips when requested.
- Liaise with payroll providers, consultants and clients to resolve payroll issues.
- Verify Right to Work documentation in line with UK legislation.
- Ensure candidate files are fully compliant before placement.
- Process contracts, registration documents and compliance paperwork.
- Maintain accurate electronic personnel records and filing systems.
- Conduct compliance audits across multiple recruitment sectors.
- Support onboarding of new temporary workers.
- Ensure documentation is stored securely and in line with GDPR requirements.
- Support consultants with compliance queries.
- Keep all records accurate and up to date.
- Support weekly payroll reporting and reconciliations.
- Assist with commission calculations and management reports.
- Support operational improvement projects.
- Provide general administrative support across the Operations team.
- Build positive relationships with candidates, clients and colleagues.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous administration experience in a busy office environment.
- Payroll experience is advantageous but not essential – full training provided.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- A professional and confidential approach to sensitive information.
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn and strong problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
