Payroll Manager
Yolk Recruitment
Are you an experienced payroll professional looking for your next opportunity?
We are looking for a hands-on Payroll Manager to provide interim support to an established organisation, taking responsibility for the smooth and accurate delivery of its monthly payroll.
This is an immediate short-term opportunity, initially for up to four months, with the potential for the assignment to be extended. You will play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of payroll for more than 500 employees, including a range of different employee groups with varying pay terms and conditions.
While the job title is Payroll Manager, this role will focus specifically on the day-to-day running and delivery of payroll rather than wider people management responsibilities.
The role
You will be responsible for managing the end-to-end monthly payroll process, ensuring payments are accurate, compliant and delivered on time.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing an effective and efficient payroll service.
- Responding professionally and confidentially to a wide range of payroll queries.
- Ensuring monthly payroll runs are completed accurately and on time, with robust checking processes in place.
- Undertaking detailed payroll calculations.
- Completing statutory returns to HMRC.
- Processing statutory payments, including maternity, paternity and sick pay.
- Administering salary sacrifice schemes and employee loan arrangements.
- Processing allowances, overtime and other payments in line with relevant terms and conditions.
- Processing travel and subsistence claims.
- Managing third-party payments and deductions.
- Keeping up to date with changes to payroll legislation and implementing any required changes.
- Supporting the organisation to maintain high levels of payroll accuracy and customer service.
About you
We are looking for an experienced payroll professional who is comfortable taking ownership of a busy and complex monthly payroll.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience running end-to-end payroll for a medium to large organisation.
- Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, statutory payments and HMRC requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to checking and processing payroll.
- The ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the confidence to manage payroll queries independently.
- Experience using iTrent payroll software would be highly desirable, although experienced payroll professionals who can quickly pick up new systems will also be considered.
Contract Details:
- Initially 4 month contract, possibility of extension
- 1 day per week in Cardiff
