The Opportunity
We are looking for a Payroll Officer to join our Human Resources team and help deliver an accurate, efficient and reliable payroll service for Barnsley College. You will play an important role in ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time, while making sure statutory, pension and contractual requirements are met.
Working as part of the Payroll and wider HR team, you will support the processing and checking of payrolls, undertake reconciliations and statutory payments, and help maintain effective administrative and financial systems. You will also prepare financial and statistical information and provide payroll guidance to colleagues on areas including sickness, maternity, tax, National Insurance, redundancy and other pay-related queries.
You will also support the administration of pension schemes, including liaising with pension providers and providing employees with relevant information and guidance. This is a varied opportunity where your accuracy and payroll knowledge will help ensure an effective service for colleagues across the College.
About You
You will be an organised and proactive individual with previous payroll experience and a strong eye for detail. Comfortable working with payroll information, reconciliations and statutory payments, you will understand the importance of accuracy, confidentiality and meeting strict deadlines.
You will have strong communication skills and the confidence to provide clear and helpful information to colleagues and other customers. You will also be comfortable using IT systems, including Microsoft Excel, and able to organise and prioritise your workload effectively.
Above all, you will bring a professional and collaborative approach to the role, using your initiative while working effectively as part of the wider HR team.

Required
Level 3 qualification in payroll, finance, business administration or a related discipline
1 years’ experience of relevant work experience
Experience of all aspects of payroll administration
Experience of reconciliations and statutory payments
