With over 1,000 employees and a £150m turnover. We are now looking for a  part -time Payroll Technician to play a key role in our central service team. 
  • Fixed term contract for 5 months. 
  • Preferred hours: Monday to Wednesday 7.25 hrs/day, 21.75 hrs/week. 
The Role As a Payroll Technician you will be responsible for accurate and timely payroll processing for weekly and monthly employees and administrative support, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and company policies.

What You’ll Be Doing

Transaction Processing
  • Process payroll data including hours worked, overtime and bonuses. 
  • Process payroll with monthly and weekly payroll runs for all staff. 
  • Calculate and process payroll deductions. 
  • Checking and verifying timesheets, overtime, absences and allowances. 
  • Escalate payroll anomalies or discrepancies to senior payroll staff.
System Management: 
  • Maintain accurate employee records in payroll systems. 
  • Assist in implementing process improvements and system updates.
Compliance & Reporting: 
  • Maintain compliance with Company procedures, local agreements and management system. 
  • Maintain compliance with HMRC regulations, pension contributions, and statutory payments. 
  • Ensure payroll‑related documentation meets audit expectations. 
  • Archive records in relation to payroll documentation. 
  • Ensure adherence to GDPR and confidentiality requirements.
Stakeholder Communication: 
  • Respond to payroll queries from employees and managers promptly and professionally.
  • Liaise with HR and Finance teams to resolve discrepancies. 
  • Liaise with management / supervision on anomalies relating to hours / holidays / absence / travel / subsistence in relation to payroll processing.

What We’re Looking For

Essential
  • Proficiency in payroll software and MS Excel.
Desirable
  • CIPP qualified working towards a payroll qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and compliance. 
  • Experience in processing payroll for a medium sized Company.
  • Fixed term contract for 5 months. 
  • Preferred hours: Monday to Wednesday 7.25 hrs/day, 21.75 hrs/week.
