KO2 are partnering with a globally recognised industry leader to recruit a PCB Layout Engineer based in the Stoke-on-Trent area. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly innovative team developing advanced systems deployed across the globe.

As PCB Layout Engineer, you will be at the heart of the product development process - taking electronic designs from concept through to production-ready boards. You will work closely with electronics engineers, cross-functional teams, and supply chain partners to deliver high-quality PCB designs that meet the demanding requirements of cutting-edge detection systems.



Key Responsibilities

  • Create detailed PCB layouts from engineering schematics using Altium Designer or equivalent PCB CAD software
  • Build and validate electronic prototypes, supporting design verification and sign-off
  • Collaborate with electronics engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements
  • Develop and maintain component libraries and PCB design data
  • Produce accurate CAD drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and associated technical documentation
  • Develop and execute test plans; utilise equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters to validate designs
  • Support production, commissioning activities, and field service as required
  • Contribute to continuous product improvement and design for manufacture initiatives
  • Maintain the electronics lab environment and test equipment to a high standard
  • Develop 3D-printed components where required to support prototyping activities


Essential Requirements

  • BTEC Level 3, HNC/HND, or Degree qualification in Electronic or Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years' experience in a PCB layout or electronics design environment
  • Demonstrable experience with PCB layout software, ideally Altium Designer
  • Strong hands-on soldering skills and cable assembly experience
  • Proven experience using electronic test and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics confidently
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Effective communicator - comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible and proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities
