Lead a high-performing team and make a real impact. We are looking for an experienced Pensions Manager to join our clients established pensions administration team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong Defined Benefit pensions experience who enjoys leading people, building lasting client relationships, and delivering exceptional service.
You'll take ownership of a portfolio of pension scheme clients, managing service delivery while supporting and developing a talented team of administrators. Working closely with senior leadership, you'll play an important role in driving operational excellence, improving processes and contributing to the continued growth of the business.
The Role
As Pensions Manager, you'll be responsible for the overall delivery of pension administration services across your client portfolio. You'll ensure exceptional service standards, lead and develop your team, manage projects, and provide expert technical guidance while supporting the wider business strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of pension administration clients, ensuring exceptional service delivery, quality and profitability.
- Building trusted relationships with trustees, employers and key stakeholders.
- Leading client meetings and providing expert pensions consultancy and technical guidance.
- Managing annual and ad hoc projects, including benefit statements, pension increases, renewals and trustee reports.
- Ensuring work is delivered accurately on time and in line with legislation and service level agreements.
- Leading, coaching and developing your team through effective people management, mentoring and performance reviews.
- Managing workflow, allocating resources and ensuring team objectives are achieved.
- Supporting business development through client retention, account growth, marketing initiatives and new business opportunities.
- Monitoring budgets, billing and financial performance across your client portfolio.
- Driving continuous improvement by identifying efficiencies, improving governance and implementing best practice.
- Keeping up to date with pensions legislation and ensuring compliance across all work.
The person:
Essential
- Significant experience in pensions administration, particularly Defined Benefit schemes.
- Strong technical understanding of pensions legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Experience managing complex pensions administration including retirements, transfers, deaths, benefit statements, pension increases and scheme renewals.
- Previous experience leading, mentoring and developing teams.
- Excellent client relationship and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong project management experience.
- Commercial awareness and experience managing client portfolios.
- Confident communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Desirable
- Experience within a third-party pensions administration environment.
- Experience supporting business development or marketing initiatives.
- Previous experience presenting at trustee meetings or client pitches.
- Experience developing new client relationships and identifying growth opportunities.
